Two decks of 52 cards each, plus four jokers, are usually used to play the game. In Canasta, the goal is to score points by forming melds, or sets or runs, of seven or more cards.
  • To create runs and sets of cards and declare before your opponent does is the aim of Indian Rummy. Thirteen cards are dealt to each player at the start of the game; the remaining cards are then arranged face down on the table to form the draw pile. Every player takes a turn drawing a card from either the draw or discard pile, followed by the discarding of a card from their hand.
