A 52-card standard deck is used for playing 777 Rummy, a variation on the classic rummy card game that is usually played with two to six players. Being the first player to discard every card by creating sets (three or four cards ofsatta ling the same rank) and runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) is the main objective of the game. The distinctive aspect of 777 Rummy is that, in order to proceed, a player must have three sets or runs, which adds another level of complexity to the game. Seven cards are dealt to each player at the start of the game; the remaining cards are used to create the draw pile. To begin the discard pile, the top card in the draw pile is turned face up.
