  • Effectively handling your own hand is another essential tactic. Holding onto versatile cards that can contribute to several possible sets or runs will help players keep their options open. When you hold onto a 5 of hearts & a 6 of hearts, for instance, you may eventually be able to form a run with a 4 or 7 of hearts.
  • A certain number of cards—typically seven or ten—are dealt to each player based on the number of players. Forming valid sets and runs before the allotted time is up is the goal. Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit make up a run, whereas three or four cards of the same rank but different suits make up a set. Players alternate drawing cards from the discard pile or the stockpile at the beginning of each round. To keep their hand size the same after drawing, they have to discard one card.
