Three or four cards of the same rank make up a set, & three or more consecutive cards of the same suit make up a run. Gameplay Overview. Each player is dealt a play rummyhand of cards at the start of the game, which can be played by two to six people. The discard pile is formed by first taking a card out of the deck and laying it face up on the table.
