The history of card games begins in ancient China, where the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) is thought to have invented them. Nonetheless, card games started to gaintrick games popularity in Europe in the late 14th century, especially among the nobility. The Moors are frequently credited with introducing playing cards to Europe by bringing them to Spain. From there, they quickly expanded throughout the continent and established themselves as a mainstay in aristocratic homes and royal courts.
