Michael Mizrachi's Poker Background

Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has a reputation for being a master of all trades with seven WSOP bracelets on his mantel. Four of these bracelets (a record number) are for the prestigious $50,000 Poker Players Championship events from 2010, 2012, 2018, and this year.

Mizrachi and his older brother — another big-name poker player, Robert Mizrachi — grew up in Miami, Florida where Robert taught Michael to play poker. Robert mentored Michael him through his early years as a poker player.

Eventually Michael eventually dropped out of college, where he was studying to become a doctor, to play poker full-time.

Despite his talents as a player, WSOP success was a long time coming for Mizrachi. It wasn't until 2010 that he won his first bracelet, winning the $50,000 Player's Championship event for the first time and earning $1,559,046. Mizrachi then went on to make the November Nine of that year, his first ever Main Event final table.

Over the years, Mizrachi continued to pick up more bracelets, including a WSOPE bracelet earned in Cannes, France.

As it stands, his lifetime live tournament cashes stand at $19,013,562. No matter how the final table pans out this year, that number will increase by at least $1 million, the min-cash for the final nine.

Michael Mizrachi Reacts to Making WSOP Main Event Final Table

Back at his second WSOP Main Event final table, this time Mizrachi doesn't have to wait three months to resume play as in the November Nine format. When asked if he preferred the quick turnaround or a longer preparation period, Mizrachi said:

"I don’t know how much preparation you really need. Everyone says it’s like riding a bike. I hadn’t played a tournament in a year! I was playing cash games six or seven days a week. My last tournament was the last World Series event I won, then a charity event, and now I’m back here."

"I'm in a good spot and have position on the big stack, so I like my situation"

Compared to his previous final table run in 2017, he’s entering with a much bigger stack and greater confidence.

"Last time I was seventh of nine; now I’m second in chips out of nine players. I'm in a good spot and have position on the big stack, so I like my situation."

Reflecting on his WSOP experience this year, Mizrachi shared:

"I enjoy it every year. The World Series of Poker is the greatest tournament on Earth! Playing against the best players, having a great time. They do an amazing job running it. GG’s platform makes registering feel like playing online but live, which is pretty cool."

Asked about his chances of Hall of Fame induction and whether missing out next year would feel like a snub, he said:

"I really felt like it was locked in after the fourth time in the PPC. This is just another level. If it doesn’t happen, it just motivates me even more!"

Michael Mizrachi's Main Event Story

Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi at the 2025 Main Event.

Mizrachi put down his $10,000 buy in on Day 1b of the Main Event and as first days go, it went well. Mizrachi finished up top of his flight, bagging 297,000 in chips.

Day 2 made a small move towards the mean, but not by much, with Mizrachi finishing near the top with the 142nd bag of 1,320.

From there on out, Mizrachi's progress was what you'd expect from an aggressive player, getting it good most of the time, but still getting it in. The result was chaotic progress.

His chip ranking on Day 3 dropped into the bottom third, bouncing back to the top ten percent for Day 4 when he increased his stack by more than ten times. On Day 5, he less-than-doubled his stack only to quintuple it the next day from 4,025,000 to 19,925,000.

Then on Day 7 his stack took another dive, dropping to 11,400,000, and leaving him 19th out of the remaining 24 players.

On Day 8 as the field shrank from twenty-four to nine, Mizrachi was still in there mixing things up taking pots and names as he built his stack up to the point he is at now — sitting with the second biggest stack and by far the most experience at the WSOP Main Event final table.
